WHITE OUT

In the solo "White Out," Yu gives physical life to the quiet intensity of the human interior. Yu’s movements magnify the subtleties of the inner sensibility into fluctuations of energy, generating an interaction between audience and performer which is primarily visceral. Yu will premiere "White Out" at ARTE AO VIVO, RIO AO VIVO.

BIO

Jin-Wen Yu, EdD & MFA, has created, performed, directed, and produced more than 100 works for the stage in the Americas and Asia, including 40 commissioned works for professionals and institutes. He is a professor in the Dance Department of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and currently serves as president of World Dance Alliance-Americas. Dr. Yu’s numerous honors and awards include an Outstanding Dance Artist Award from Taiwan, a Wisconsin Arts Board Choreographer Award, the first Madison CitiARTS Commission Signature Grant, support from Ira and Ineva Reilly Baldwin Wisconsin Idea Endowment, National Culture and Arts Foundation of Taiwan, Chinese Information and Culture Center in New York, UW Arts Institute Creative Arts Award, and six works selected for performance in ACDFA gala concerts.
